Hurling Senior

Senior 2008 review

2008 saw another sucessful year for the senior hurling team. Although there was no silverware to back up this sucess they managed to take the Ulster league campaign to the semi finals and in 2007 they only managed to reach the Qtr finals. They were beat in the semi finals by a very strong and athletic Lisbellaw team who eventually went on to win the tournament. Na Magha also competed in the Ulster junior championship and lost out at the Qtr finals stage to Cavan team Mullahoran, again this tournament was win by lisbellaw.

The Derry league again was a big disappointment as they were only 2 games fixed through the whole year, this is highly unexceptable and would need to be addressed. The Derry intermediate championship was lost to Kevin Lynches II.

The senior team again competed in the Donegal Senior league and were able to use the league to get some of the younger inexperienced players some much needed match time, so therefore was used a great development opportunity with not much emphasis on the results.

With alot of the young players getting that bit of experience in 2008 the incoming season should be very interesting for the senior players as they shall be looking to push hard to produce some silverware at the end of the season
